“Homeland and Foreign Land” is a crucial theme in Han Qian’s exhibition. From Wuhan to Paris, then back to the ancestral hometown of Niu Zhuang in Liaoning Province, Han Qian has been searching in different cities, observing how different things occupy space over time, transforming abstract spaces into tangible homelands. However, for Yunnan artist Cheng Xinhao, his homeland has always been definitive. Despite leaving for nine years for education, he only feels passionate about Yunnan, and after graduation, he returned to his homeland, consistently using it as a source of inspiration for his creations. These two different approaches to creation point to different perceptions of space, place, and one’s own identity. In this event, the two artists will engage in dialogue on these issues.
